This past Saturday, May 3rd, during one of the most anticipated events in international boxing, world-renowned Mexican boxer Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez returned to the ring in Saudi Arabia, accompanied by a brand-new official track that set the tone before the fight. The song, titled “Mexicano Soy”, is the latest release from Luis R Conriquez, tailored specifically for the champion.

The track is a rap, with a flow that echoes the feeling of a corrido, not through a traditional structure, but in its storytelling and the deep sense of Mexican pride it conveys.

The track produced by Meny Méndez, features trumpets that evoke strength, greatness, and Mexican roots, adding a sound that connects directly with Canelo’s essence.

The lyrics were written by Esaú Ortiz, who captured Canelo’s journey in bars. One standout line references “Terror pal oponente, yo soy su Martes 13”, creating a lyrical bridge to previous musical works built around real-life figures and aspirational narratives.

The official cover — a photograph taken during Canelo’s walkout — was edited and finalized by So Hood GFX, who handled the visual presentation for the release.
