The GRAMMYs make it official!

For the first time ever, the Academy is recognizing the artists behind visual art with a new category: Best Album Cover.

After decades, a cover is no longer just an image — it’s an essential part of the musical experience, well, it always has been — it just feels different now, for some reason. And for the Academy to finally give it the recognition it deserves… is a huge step forward for design in the industry.

And even if we haven’t won it yet, this is already a milestone. Especially in an era oversaturated by AI, it’s refreshing to see real recognition through this new award for our industry.

At So Hood GFX, we’re already celebrating this win —a win for all the artists behind the covers we see every day while listening to our favorite tracks. Because yes, covers are heard too. They’re part of what we live, what we feel… and often, what we remember.

That’s exactly why we dropped a post imagining how some of our most iconic digital covers from Mexican music — like PRC by Peso Pluma & Natanael Cano, Si No Quieres No by Luis R Conriquez & Neton Vega, among others — would hit as real, physical albums.

But while the GRAMMYs move forward, digital platforms still don’t credit the creators behind the art — at least not yet.

Who will take the first step? Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon… we’re watching. (Laughs)

Thank You to the academy for the massive W for all our community of designers.
